NIGHTINGALES is a wonderful and entertaining celebration of the songs of the 1940’s and the women who sang them.
This musical revue features the songs Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Seems Like Old Times, Lili Marlene, White Cliffs of Dover, The Fleets In and many more in sets that journey from ‘Saying Good-bye Set’ to the ‘Pearls of the Cinema Set’ to ‘The Coming Home Set’.
As well, celebrating three incredible songstresses – Edith Piaf, Marlene Dietrich and Vera Lynn in a special ‘Tribute Set’ who brought faith and hope to millions of people during the war.
NIGHTINGALES was first performed in Leave It To Jane’s 1998-99 theatre season to rave reviews and sold out audiences. It was also nominated for a Sterling Award for ‘Best Musical’ and ‘Musical Direction’ that year. The original show featured the wonderful talented trio of chanteuses: Kate Ryan, Celina Stachow and Dana Wylie. Leave It To Jane Theatre’s Tim Ryan was director with Roxanne Classen as musical director.
